Rating-neutral review request templates for trades
These messages are deliberately plain. Customers should recognise the job, understand that a review is optional and know who the request came from. Replace every placeholder and read the final message before sending it.
Quick answer
Quick answer
Name the completed job, ask for an honest review, include the direct link and make the request optional. Do not mention a desired rating or use a template while a service issue is still open.
Use this when
- The job has passed your normal completion and contact checks.
- The message will be reviewed and sent manually by the business.
- You need a short starting point rather than a long campaign sequence.
What you should have at the end
A message that sounds like it came from the business that completed the work, not from generic reputation software.
Before copying a template
- Confirm the correct customer, job and review link.
- Remove any placeholder that does not apply.
- Check there is no open complaint, missing document or promised action.
- Use your normal opt-out wording where required.
Plumbing: completed repair or service
Text message
Hello [customer name], thank you for asking [business name] to complete the [boiler service / leak repair / other job] on [day]. If you would like to leave an honest review of the visit, you can use this link: [review link]. It is completely optional. [opt-out wording]
Do not send this while a return visit, invoice or other promised follow-up is still outstanding.
Electrical: inspection, repair or installation
Email or text
Hello [customer name], thank you for choosing [business name] for [inspection / repair / installation]. Now that the agreed work and paperwork are complete, you are welcome to share an honest review here: [review link]. There is no obligation. [opt-out wording]
For an inspection or diagnostic visit, describe the actual completed scope rather than implying that later repairs were included.
Cleaning: one-off clean
Text message
Hello [customer name], thank you for choosing [business name] for your [deep clean / end-of-tenancy clean / other service]. If you would like to leave an honest review of the completed clean, the link is [review link]. It is optional. [opt-out wording]
Cleaning: recurring client
Occasional request
Hello [customer name], thank you for continuing to use [business name]. If you would like to share an honest review of the service so far, you can use [review link]. There is no obligation, and we will not ask after every visit. [opt-out wording]
Set a sensible frequency rule so regular clients are not contacted after every clean.
One limited reminder
- Do not create urgency or say the review is overdue.
- Do not send repeated reminders.
- Stop immediately after an opt-out.
Reminder
Hello [customer name], a quick reminder that the optional review link for your completed [job or service] is [review link]. Please ignore this message if you would rather not leave a review. [opt-out wording]
Phrases to remove before sending
- Please leave us five stars.
- As a happy customer, could you review us?
- Leave a positive review to receive a discount.
- It only takes 30 seconds and really helps our ranking.
